We recently had the opportunity to start an exciting new collaboration with Friedman Place, a nonprofit supportive living community for adults who are blind/low vision. Friedman Place is dedicated to providing housing and supportive services that emphasize self-determination, independence, and active participation within the community.
As part of this collaboration, we brought evaluation prototypes of our haptic-enhanced white cane directly to the residents of Friedman Place. Over the next several weeks, residents will be using these innovative canes in real-world situations, providing us with vital feedback regarding their experiences, impressions, and suggestions for improvement.
The feedback and insights collected from the residents during this trial will be invaluable as we continue working to refine the design, functionality, and technology of these mobility devices for the blind and low-vision community.
We extend gratitude to the residents and staff of Friedman Place for their generosity, enthusiasm, and willingness to collaborate with us on this project. We are also incredibly grateful to our supporters, whose generous donations make our ongoing research and charitable outreach possible.
